Evening Prayer in the Catholic Church most commonly refers to Vespers, the “prayer of sunset” in the Liturgy of the Hours (the Church’s daily prayer). It is prayed near the end of the day, when the Church gathers to give thanks, ask for help, and entrust the night—and the next day in God’s hands—to the Father through Christ.
